The NPL Football Academy (NPLFA) is delighted to announce that Mickleover Sports student Simran Shahi is progressing onto higher education with UCFB, where he will be studying Sports Coaching and Management at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
The Sports full back enjoyed an extremely successful two years with the Derbyshire club, both on and off the pitch. Impressing in his debut season, Simran was selected for the NPLFA Inter-league squad and represented the academy against Accrington Stanley, while his academic performance continued to speak for itself, finally achieving a Double Distinction-Merit in July which will now take him onto the next stage of his own career in sport.
Simran said of his time with the NPL Football Acacemy, “I have enjoyed the fact for two years I have been able to train day in day out with top-level coaches, whose knowledge I can now take with me. The fact that I was also able to keep my body in top condition for the last two years will now benefit me, moving forward. By the time I have finished my degree, I want to either coach in a professional club locally, or move to a different country and coach over there.”
Reflecting back over the last two years, which has been full of memorable rivalries, he added “My highlight has to be when we beat the older Mickleover team in our first season.”
We would like to wish Simran all the very best of luck in the next stage of his coaching development and hope to see him involved with us again in the near future.
