Congratulations to first year student Harry Wood who made his debut for Matlock Town on Tuesday evening in the Integro League Cup 2nd Round against Basford United.
The former Chesterfield academy player started the game and impressed with a mature performance in the 2-2 draw, a result which took the game straight to penalties where the 16 year old stepped up to score the sixth spot kick.
At 16 years of age, Harry became one of the youngest players in Matlock Town’s history and their fifth football graduate overall.
Congratulations also to fellow first year student Billy Whitehead. The 16 year old Academy top goalscorer was called up for the first time but did not manage to get on.
Academy students Jordan Pierrepont and Jordan Lee started to take the number of players involved to four along with their Academy coach Jamie Yates.
Congratulations to Harry and all of his fellow students on their first team involvements.
