Mickleover Sports are based in Derbyshire. The club was formed in 1948 and spent the first 44 years of their existence competing locally in the Derby and District Senior League.

In 1993, they joined the Central Midlands Football League Premier Division, gaining promotion to the Supreme Division two years later. They moved up to Northern Counties East League Division One in 1999, and in the 2000/01 season reached the 4th round of the FA Vase.

Their most recent promotion, to the Northern Premier League, occurred at the end of the 2008/09 season.

Founder members of the NPL Football Academy, joining in 2014 and won the inaugural NPL Football Academy title and then followed that up with another league championship a year later.

Lewis Belgrave was the first Mickleover Sports football graduate when he made his debut against Darlington on Saturday 10th October 2015. Students Kieran Cronin, Tyron Buxton, Jordan Gilhooly, Murtaza Haidary and Jack Tolley  have all appeared on the first team bench at various times throughout their time at the Academy.

COACHES PROFILE | ANDY DALES

Andy 21 is currently the youngest coach / manager in the NPLFA in his role at Mickleover Sports Football Academy. Andy started out in football at Derby County on a professional contract, after leaving Derby County, Andy decided to play semi-professional football and forge a new career in coach development and management.

Andy currently plays for Mickleover Sports FC in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division. Whilst trying to establish a career in the semi-professional football Andy has completed his level 2 and is now working towards his UEFA B licence and FA modules. He is gaining experience in his role at Premier Coaching Ltd where he coaches junior teams and also in schools and also coaches at Derby County’s youth development centres’

Andy has his first aid and safeguarding certificates and is a fully qualified personal trainer. Andy will be looking to progress further with his coaching career and his role as coach / manager of Mickleover Sports Football Academy is a perfect platform for his chosen new career path.
