Matlock Town, based in the Peak District, Derbyshire have been in the Northern Premier League since 1969 and have competed in the NPL ever since.

Nicknamed the ‘Gladiators’ they were FA Trophy winners in 1975, defeating Scarborough in the final at Wembley Stadium.

Current members of the Premier Division they joined the NPL Football Academy in it’s second season in 2015.

Lewis Brown is the first student to have first team involvement when he was on the bench in their Evo-Stik League Premier Division fixture at Stamford AFC on 27th February 2016.

Max Hunt became the second NPL Football Academy student to move to the professional game when he moved to Mansfield Town in July 2016.
